New models, new ways for public and private sectors to partner

On April 13, 2019 CEO Pierre Lavallée spoke on a panel at the spring meeting of the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC.

This was an opportunity to talk about the need for the public and private sectors to partner in new models to help deliver public infrastructure projects. Governments in Canada are investing record amounts in infrastructure. The demand for new infrastructure is significant. Many large projects will also benefit from investment by the private sector.

The CIB will help to bridge the gap that exists between traditional government funding and fully privately financed infrastructure.

We are uniquely positioned to provide advice and make investments in projects that are in the public interest. The CIB has a wide range of financial instruments for projects with public sponsors, and private sector investors and developers will have a significant responsibility for making investments and managing risks in projects in which CIB invests.
