The energy transition was centre stage as some of the world’s leading petroleum producers gathered in Calgary in September for the World Petroleum Congress. The Canada Infrastructure Bank was invited to participate in the large-scale event, attended by more than 2,000 guests. Chief Executive Officer Ehren Cory spoke on a panel about Canada’s energy transition while Charles Todd, Managing Director, Investments, spoke about growing interest in hydrogen, especially in the heavy-duty, long haul transportation sector. Carbon sequestration was a technological proposal advocated by oil executives and government leaders including Alberta Premier Danielle Smith.
