Supplying Nova Scotia’s electrical grid with more clean power
Investment in new wind facility will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and deliver sustainable power for Nova Scotians.
Fast facts
We are investing $118 million in the Higgins Mountain Wind facility located between Colchester and Cumberland Counties in Nova Scotia. The CIB’s investment will enable the construction of 17 new wind turbines that are expected to produce 100 megawatts of zero-emissions power for Nova Scotians.
Once complete, the wind facility will help drive the province’s energy transition, moving from coal to renewables with an expected reduction of over 200,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually. This investment will help Nova Scotia to achieve their objective of having 80% of their energy come from renewable sources by 2030 while creating new jobs to support construction and operations.
Benefits of CIB Involvement
The CIB fills financing gaps on projects where public and private investment are both required. This project is part of the CIB’s $10 billion Clean Power priority sector which aims to accelerate emissions reductions.
Our long-term capital can ensure critical, large-scale clean energy infrastructure projects are built and renewable generation is integrated into the province’s electricity grid.
