Upgrades to industrial warehouses in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec
Dream to update and improve buildings’ energy efficiency
Fast facts
The CIB’s $50 million loan to Dream Industrial will help the real estate firm to retrofit 34 industrial warehouses in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.
Buildings account for 18% of Canada’s emissions and investments from the CIB help to prioritize and accelerate building upgrades which reduce energy consumption.
The CIB’s investment will support updates in mid- and large-bay warehouses used for urban logistics, light industrial and distribution. Building upgrades include: mechanical and electrical systems, renewable energy generation, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, fuel switching, energy management technology, building envelope and electric vehicle charging.
The project is expected to create 630 jobs and generate 14,500 megawatt-hours of clean electricity from installed solar panels.
Benefits of the CIB’s involvement
The project extends the CIB’s Building Retrofit Initiative with an already committed $1.5 billion in loans across the country.
