Investment increases access to affordable electric vehicle (EV) chargers
Closing the urban electric vehicle (EV) charging gap by deploying curbside EV chargers
Fast facts
We are partnering with JOLT to enable the installation of up to 1,500 new curbside EV chargers in urban centres – ensuring convenient and affordable charging options for Canadians.
JOLT’s EV charging stations combine innovative technology with cost-effective, fast charging with each station providing up to 7 kWh of free, fast charging per car per day, or approximately 50 kilometres of driving range.
JOLT’s cost-effective and reliable EV charging network is supported by digital Out-of-Home advertising on premium screens integrated into its charging kiosks.
By providing loans towards the build-out of EV charging infrastructure, the CIB aims to alleviate consumer range anxiety, accelerate EV adoption and significantly reduce transportation sector emissions.
Benefits of the CIB’s involvement
The CIB is supporting Canadians’ need for accessible and convenient charging by investing in expanding EV charging infrastructure through the Charging and Hydrogen Refuelling Infrastructure Initiative (CHRI).
Investments under the CHRI Initiative address the barriers to large-scale private sector investment in this sector, including uncertainty in the rate and pace of EV adoption. The loan marks the CIB’s fourth CHRI investment and its third in EV charging infrastructure.
