Improving building resiliency by implementing energy efficiency retrofits

Our investment will finance 19 building retrofits across Dream’s portfolio in Ontario and Saskatchewan.

The initiative represents one of the most ambitious targets in the real estate sector. We are committing up to $136.6 million to financing 19 buildings build between 1875 to 1992 from Dream, under our Commercial Building Retrofits Initiative.

Dream will begin decarbonizing and modernizing each building starting in Spring 2022. Once complete, the buildings will more resilient workplaces.

Dream’s retrofit plan is focused on implementing energy efficiency measures, focusing on mechanical and electrical upgrades, new windows and roofs, electric vehicle chargers and rooftop solar.

Benefits of CIB Involvement

With our investment, Dream will undertake projects that would not normally be included in its renewal plans nor would be traditionally financially viable. We are investing in retrofits to increase the scale and speed of project opportunities which significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
