Project Name: Newfoundland and Labrador Fixed Link
Partner: Government of Newfoundland and Labrador
Location: Newfoundland and Labrador
Sector: Trade and Transportation
Participation: Memorandum of Understanding
Description: The CIB and the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Transportation and Infrastructure signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to further assess a fixed transportation link between the Island of Newfoundland and Labrador. The work will build on previous costing and revenue studies, including the 2004 and 2018 pre-feasibility studies, and involve additional capital and user analysis. The CIB will also assess options for potential transaction structures, related financial analysis and identify additional planning, development and business case work required.
Benefits of the CIB Involvement
Large projects take years to plan and develop, and often require specialized expertise when considering innovative investment and delivery methods. The MOU means the further capital and user assessment will be expedited and is expected to be completed by winter 2022.
